Nikhil Office Window detail. This project highlights our standard workflow, showcasing the detailed drawings and processes we follow for every set. As the set supervisor, I ensured that all elements, including the window details and set backing, were meticulously planned and CNC-fabricated wherever possible. These images illustrate how we approach precision and efficiency in construction, from initial drawings to final assembly.
For the mothership clouds, we drew inspiration from the intricate folds of the brain, known as gyri and sulci, to create a unique and organic pattern. Using a brain scan as our base, I utilized Grasshopper to extract a height map and translate the data into a precise shape.
We fabricated a large press by slicing the shape and assembling it. Incredibly thin copper wire was carefully placed within the press and compressed to form the desired pattern. Once pressed, the wire structure was sewn together to match the CNC-generated shape for the clouds.
The final piece was suspended and used as the centerpiece for the shoot, where we 3D-projected a dynamic laser effect onto the structure to create a stunning visual atmosphere.
